September Chocolate Selection: 'Italy'

Treat yourself or someone special to a box of these delicious and beautifully gift-packaged artisan bonbons. These are hand-painted, hand-tempered and hand-crafted chocolates made in Dorset.

 

The bonbons are back… For September, we are taking you to Italy!

 

This month’s theme is inspired by our trip during the summer, where we recently got engaged. During our trip, we’ve been consciously researching for flavour inspirations and brought back some of the ingredients to make this month’s box.

 

We hope these flavours take you to beautiful, sunny Italy to celebrate its rich culinary traditions, as we hold on to the very last of the summer…

 

Cedro - Refreshing and tangy cedro gel, paired with a Valrhona Ivoire ganache, infused with cedro liqueur

 

Cedro is a large, fragrant citrus fruit, mainly grown in Calabria, Southern Italy. We couldn’t believe the size of it when we spotted it in the local markets! The cedro liqueur is authentically Italian, which we’ve bought in Scalea, Calabria.

 

Hazelnut Crema di Caffè - Coffee marshmallow, sitting atop a hazelnut & coffee gianduja, made using our house-made praline and house-ground @readscoffeeroasters coffee chocolate

 

This deliciously whipped coffee treat is essentially a slushy for grown-ups! We had this every day in the trip and immediately wanted to turn it into a bonbon. The coffee marshmallow resembles the light, airy and fluffy texture of this dessert.

The fruit in Italy is amazing! This flavour is inspired by our daily trips to the local markets, with all the bright, juicy fruit bursting with flavour and sun-kissed by the Mediterranean climate.

 

Apricot, Mascarpone & Amaretti - Apricot pate de fruit, Valrhona Caramelia & mascarpone ganache, amaretti biscuit layer

 

Triple-layered experience of fruity, creamy and crunchy, with quintessential Italian flavours. This one is not to be missed!

Transparency: Due to the current global cocoa shortage (you can read more about that in our blog post here), we’ve unfortunately had to put our prices up. One thing that we did not want to compromise on is our quality, so we did not want to use cheaper alternatives with lesser quality of flavour. We use Valrhona, which is B-corp certified, ethical and highly-regarded as the best couverture chocolate in the professional and chef world. We hope our customers can understand and continue to support us.

 

All orders come with a handwritten gift note option in our very own greeting card. The perfect personal touch when you’re sending a chocolate-y treat to a loved one.

 

Always with sustainability in mind, our boxes, cards and packing tape are fully recyclable, while our clear bags and packaging peanuts are biodegradable and compostable.
